Workshop: Virus Species Determinants and Transmission

July, 27th - 29th 2022

Dear fellow students, postdocs and colleagues,

it is our pleasure to announce the 1st workshop of the Society of Virology (GfV) study group One Health and Zoonotic Viruseson the topic:

“Virus Species Determinants and Transmission”

at the convention center Hessenkopf in Goslar, Germany from July, 27th - 29th 2022

Our aim is to bring students and postdocs together with experts in the one health field, thereby encouraging and assisting scientific interdisciplinary exchange. We specifically encourage infection biologists, cell biologists, veterinarians and physicians to share their work on zoonotic infections. The interdisciplinary nature of the workshop strives to stimulate new collaborations in one health and viral zoonoses research.

Four keynote speakers will cover topics from species determinants to transmission of different zoonotic viruses.Prof.  Dr. Ana Fernandez-Sesma (Icahn School of Mount Sinai, New York, USA), Prof. Dr. Stephan Pöhlmann (German Primate Center Göttingen, Germany), Dr. Björn Meyer (Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Germany) and Dr. Nicole Tischler (Fundación Ciencia & Vida, Chile) will share their unique experience and vision. Additionally, we will host a session on science communication via new media.

Please find details on the registration process at the end of this message. All accepted participants will receive the opportunity to present their work in form of an oral or poster presentation and prizes for the best oral presentation and the best poster will be awarded. We will encourage a lively atmosphere with open discussions. We look forward to seeing old faces and meeting new colleagues who share our excitement for viruses and zoonoses.
