Zoonoses 2019 - International Symposium on Zoonoses Research

Zoonoses 2019

It is our great pleasure to invite you to this year’s symposium “Zoonoses 2019 – International Symposium on Zoonoses Research”, which is the successor of the National Symposium on Zoonoses Research. In response to the success of last year, the event is again going to take place on three days from October 16th - 18th, 2019 in Berlin, Germany. As in the previous year, the symposium will again be organized in cooperation between the German Research Platform for Zoonoses and the Research Network Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. The purpose of the symposium is to bring together scientists from different zoonoses research areas.

In a globalized world, zoonoses are an important challenge. Well-founded research, that crosses boarders between disciplines as well as nations, is essential to successfully fight this health burden. The symposium aims to contribute to this task by addressing researchers from all related fields, such as human and veterinary medicine or infection biology. We address scientists that work with known or newly emerging zoonotic diseases, with zoonoses caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites or prions, transmitted directly or via vectors.

For this year´s symposium, the focus will be on “Neglected Tropical Diseases”. The agenda includes keynote presentations by well-known colleagues as well as selected workshop talks in parallel sessions covering a broad spectrum of topics. Further, interesting research projects will be presented during poster sessions.
You can contribute to the conference by submitting an abstracts and applying for poster or oral presentation (deadlines see below). The conference language will be English.

Junior Scientist can benefit from our Young Scientists Breakfast that will take place on Friday morning. The event provides junior scientists the unique opportunity to discuss their career planning, research experiences and other subjects with experienced colleagues during a casual breakfast session. Registration to this event will take place during the first day of the symposium. Furthermore, the zoonoses platform awards the best posters presented by junior scientists with the annual poster Prize.

The conference is designed as a platform for exchanging up-to-date knowledge, meeting new cooperation partners and intensifying existing partnerships beyond scientific disciplines and geographical boundaries. The symposium is a unique opportunity to bring the One Health idea to life!

Sincerely yours,
Stephan Ludwig (Münster), Martin Groschup (Greifswald, Insel Riems), Christan Drosten (Berlin)
(Conference Chairs)
