Call for Proposals 

The goal of the German Research Platform for Zoonoses, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is to intensify the networking between working groups of medicine, veterinary medicine and infection biology, researching on zoonoses at universities and non-university institutions in Germany. Simultaneously, the platform seeks to foster research on projects spanning across locations and topics, as well as the better usability and availability of results.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research offers 1.5 million euros to initiate innovative pilot projects and interdisciplinary cross-sectional projects in the field of zoonoses research under the umbrella of of the German Research Platform for Zoonoses.

Description of the Projects
Innovative pilot projects:
Innovative, thematically defined projects to sound/explore the potential for deeper or larger follow-up projects.
Funding period: generally up to 12 months (max. 18 months)

Max. funding: 120.000 Euro / 12 months

Interdisciplinary cross-sectional projects:

Cross-sectional networking projects (vet / hum) that involve two or more research locations in Germany; aim to develop structures that become usable and available after the end of the funding, for all researchers working on zoonoses.
Funding period: up to 24 months

Max. funding: 240.000 Euro / 24 months


All members of the German Research Platform for Zoonoses are entitled to submit a proposal. This call explicitly addresses young researches as well.



Applications will be processed in chronological order. This call ends once the total volume of funding is reached. To present your project in front of the internal advisory board, you will be invited to a meeting of the internal advisory bord as soon as possible.


1. Proposal submission at the German Research Platform for Zoonoses office in Berlin (language: German)

2. Evaluation by the internal advisory board

3. Submission of the AZA (special form for funding by ministries) and final examination by the Project Management Agency of DLR.
